Because my tongue cannot disclose the truth,
My pen must silently assume the task
Of delving to the bottom of my heart
And soul to find the dreams and goals I ask
Of man, society, and of myself.
To find the dreams of which I'm not aware,
To find the meaning for my life of doubt,
To find a world for which I really care.
First of all, I search for simple worth:
A working sense of values to apply
To my own life which passively conforms -
That I may see the world through mine - and not the world's eyes.
Secondly, I search for worthful knowledge.
Knowledge that is not confined to worldly things,
But knowledge which has made the angels sing.
I search for dreams that no man's dreamt before.
For dreams which I can help to bring about.
For dreams of watching man bring Heav'n to earth
And then discarding every trace of hate and doubt.
I search for goals that give my dreams a chance
Of coming true in my own life.
For goals which set me free from human faults
And tear away my jail of fear and strife.
I search for a world of equality.
I search for freedom and liberty.
I search for worth and dignity:
I search for LIFE for my world and me.
