I try to find perspective
In a mind that's strong but scared
To seek the best for mankind
That this planet might be spared.
I try to find the frame of mind,
In a world that's filled with hate,
That would put an end to futile war
Before it gets too late.
I try to find compassion
That will make me empathize,
Before I go to fight a war
And stare at lifeless eyes.
I search for understanding
That would make me realize
That my foe, like me, is human:
That he doesn't want to die.
I try to find the worth of war,
But if it can't be found
Then man should stop the flow of blood
From his self-inflicted wounds.
