The eagle soars above the earth
In natural flight.
Effortlessly - and seeming unconcerned
About the quality of life.
Knowing not of good or bad
But only of what is.
The eagle soars above the earth
In natural flight.
Completely unaware of thoughts of love -
Not giving love - not needing love.
But in not needing love
He cannot know rejection.
The eagle freely soars.
An eaglet understanding gravity
May very well approach initial flight
More cautiously - and never soar.
An eagle contemplating good and bad
Could very well disturb
The natural balance nature holds.
An eagle fearing peer rejection
Probably would fly
With inhibition,
Wanting not to fall
Nor soar too high.
If eagles thought and moralized

And feared the loss of love like us
They'd lose their wonder.
They'd fly less freely.
And they'd rarely soar.
